With over 40 years' experience, Strainstall is an expert in all areas of load measurement, strain and stress determination, with an engineering team that has acquired an international reputation for work in strain gauge-based technology.
We use a diverse range of measuring techniques and specially developed data acquisition instruments to monitor and solve problems for the marine, offshore, rail, civil engineering, power and construction sectors. Whether your project is large or small, you can rely on Strainstall to help you reach your safety and performance goals.
Strainstall design and manufacture a range of high quality load cells, load pins and load shackles, with a particular emphasis on products and systems for harsh environments and hazardous areas. Our 45 years of expertise is utilised for the many unique applications we are asked to provide measurement solutions for - and we are often the only company who can do so.
We have a total in-house design, calibration and repair capability, and to support our range of load cells we also provide complete measurement systems and a range of associated instrumentation. Our products measure load, pressure, torque and displacement and are based on the well-proven strain gauge technology.
Benefits of Strainstall load measurement products:
Manufactured from high tensile stainless steel
Solutions for any applications/environment
High levels of environmental protection
Approvals from a number of accreditation authorities
The company comprises of two divisions, each focusing on complementary measurement technologies.
Strainstall Marine
Strainstall Marine specialises in the design and manufacture of standard and bespoke load cells which are also incorporated into load measurement systems to provide, for example, hull stress monitoring, crane weighing and overload, tendon and riser tension monitoring in TLPs, vessel docking and mooring systems and anchor load monitoring for offshore structures and vessels.
We have proven expertise in providing long-term solutions for the unpredictable and often severe challenges posed by marine operations and our systems work year after year in these hostile and often hazardous environments.
Strainstall Monitoring
Strainstall Monitoring uses strain gauges and other sensors to provide structural health monitoring, static/dynamic load testing of bridges and structures, stress measurement, fatigue life and crack movement monitoring.
Our expertise is focused on providing reliable solutions for enhancing safety and performance and typically we measure and present data related to strain, displacement, inclination, temperature, acceleration (vibration) and ground water/tide levels. Strainstall's engineers have worked on installations in the railway, marine, offshore, nuclear and construction industries and in hazardous, rope-access and confined space environments across the world.
Strainstall supplies innovative solutions to a wide range of industries, always utilising state-of-the-art hardware and software to ensure that our systems perform way beyond what is merely 'fit for purpose'.
With over four decades of knowledge and experience, it is not often that we are confronted with a challenge that is entirely new; the likelihood is that we will have successfully solved a similar problem.
Our work has ranged from straightforward mining conveyor chain load monitoring to the more challenging aspects of designing, commissioning and testing turnkey track monitoring systems in the Channel Tunnel, and from ground movement monitoring at a section of the London Underground during construction works on a station above, to pile testing and ongoing structural monitoring of the world's tallest buildings.
Offshore challenges have included strain and temperature testing of wind turbine blades and weighing systems that calculate the centre of gravity and weight of large offshore oil rigs, jack-up rigs and vessels. This is just a flavor of the varied tasks we are able to perform for our clients across a range of industries.
